new york city where you're going to, i assume, see people still suffering the effects of hurricane sandy which many people say is further evidence of how a warming globe is changing our weather. what specifically do you plan to do in a sec term to tackle the issue of climate change? and do you think the political will exists in washington to pass legislation that could include some kind of attacks on carbon? >> you know, as you know, mark, we can't attribute any particular weather event to climate change. what we do know is the temperature around the globe is increasing. faster than was predicted even 10 years ago. we do know that the arctic icecap is melting, faster than was predicted even five years ago. we do know there have been extraordinarily -- there have been an extraordinarily large number of severe weather events here in north america but also around the globe. and i am a firm believer that climate change is real, that it is impacting by human behavior and by carbon emissions and i think we have an obligation to future yen rations to do something about it. in hi first term, we

host: any fallout or benefit from hurricane sandy for the candidates? becomingthink it's clear that this has been a plus for president obama. how big, we will see. if you are the incumbents and you're in a tough race, what do you want to do? you want to look presidential. that's a great advantage of incumbency. that is precisely the way he has looked, with the help of his new best friend chris christie. i guess bill clinton will have to step aside. he was the president's new best friend. now it's chris christie. with that bipartisan blessing, the president looks good. for mitt romney, he was pushed off the stage. this storm was a kind of circuit breaker for about three days. momentum, at least according to the romney camp, had been building up for romney. you lose that. politics is not just about the national voter choice. there's a big dial-up emotions included in this. i think the air went out of the balloon to a certain degree for romney during those three days. does he have time to regen? of course. we are back in the campaign today and will be back

who -- take a moment and to think of the millions of americans who have been affected by hurricane sandy and lets them -- keep them in our thoughts and prayers and they need our help moving forward. i am here today to represent my husband who is in his job as u.s. senator. even more important i am here is a mother and a citizen who is very concerned about the future for our kids and our country. i am -- i know i'd have come to see that mitt romney is the right candidate for us for president. he is the man with a record. there you go. he is. mitt romney is the man with a record, the experience, and the character to begin to turn things around, to change things in washington, to break the gridlock and to make the changes we need to get our country back on track. we all need to do everything that we can to be sure that he is elected as the next president of the united states and what i like to think today is we have five more days to avoid four more years. it is great to be here with all of you. great to feel this energy in ohio. it will be close but we're headed in the right direction. it

they are almost like sandy but in a positive sense. there was a lot of resistance to going along with spending cuts in 2011 and 2012. the political forces dictated that happening based on the elections. the same thing is happening in the inverse way on the republican side. on both issues we talked about at length, fiscal cliff and immigration, the people who lead the republican party, the smart people, except for the ideologues, know that their positions helped create a situation where they lost the election. they are going to have to change. i think we are going to find our republican colleagues more willing to compromise and deal. i think we will find that they realize that obstruction does not work. will there be a group of republicans who are still for obstruction? yes. as i said, they will have less power in 2012. you will see the 2013-2014 session of congress and relations between the white house be considerably better than they were in 2011-2012. that is what i think one of the things the tone of speaker boehner's indicated. --
